Longwood University is seeking an experienced Assistant/Senior Assistant Director to join our Admissions Office. As the Assistant/Senior Assistant Director you will assume a lead role in recruiting students from underrepresented populations of Latino students and students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. Exciting opportunity to be the supportive voice for access and success of diverse students by developing and implementing Longwood’s multicultural recruitment activities to include on-campus and off-campus programming and collaboration with representatives of groups who work with diverse students. The Assistant/Senior Assistant Director will also promote Longwood to prospective student applicants in an assigned territory, review and render decisions on applications, establish and maintain contact with high school counselors, conduct visitor presentations, participate in recruitment and yield events to increase student applications and enrollment as well as participate in other admissions-related projects as assigned.
The successful candidate should be fluent in Spanish (oral and written); have excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills; the ability to work as part of a team; be able to manage multiple projects concurrently; and have extensive experience in admissions or related area.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred); willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends; valid Virginia Driver’s License; and ability to safely lift up to 30 pounds.

The University of Richmond is a nationally ranked liberal arts university offering a unique combination of undergraduate and graduate programs through its schools of arts and sciences, business, leadership studies, law, and continuing studies with approximately 3,000 undergraduate students. Richmond is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Director of Admission. The assistant director is an integral contributor to recruitment and admission activities, including managing all aspects of recruitment within an assigned geographic region, representing the University to a wide and diverse audience, reviewing and selecting candidates, and coordinating activities to enroll an increasingly diverse class.
The assistant director has oversight and management responsibilities of several specific projects. This position will serve on the Communication Team, a team within the office that is responsible for the creation of all publications, Web management, on-line chats, and all other types of communication that is disseminated to our many constituents. We seek an individual who is creative and energetic to join a staff of 30.
Minimum requirements: A bachelor’s degree, two-three years of admission experience, an appreciation for diversity, and an understanding of and appreciation for a private, liberal arts education. Solid familiarity with the College Board’s Enrollment Planning Service, Descriptor Plus, and Recruitment Plus products highly preferred, as well as familiarity with the Banner student database system and Cascade content management.

Virginia Tech - two positions in Undergraduate Admissions

Each position serves as one of ten assistant directors who implement the Virginia Tech recruitment program; represent the university to prospective students and families; cultivate relationships with secondary school personnel; manage a territory; review applications – make and enter admissions decisions; travel each fall and each spring visiting high schools and participating in college fairs; head one special assignment area; participate in professional development; perform other administrative duties as assigned. Special assignments include, as examples, liaison to the Virginia Community College System, liaison with information technology, Open House coordination, and advising student tour guides. The specific assignments for these open positions are: international application review (shared) and management of diversity initiatives.
Both positions require evening and weekend work (about once a month), and out-of-town travel. The candidate must be able to lift, independently, at least 30 pounds, and be able to travel independently.
Qualifications for both include a Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience; experience working with diverse populations; experience in admissions, academic advising, counseling or related field; demonstrated organizational skills to accommodate multiple priorities; exemplary interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with individuals and large groups; computer proficiency with Microsoft Office or comparable software. Preference given for Master’s degree, admissions experience in a higher education setting; experience with the land grant mission; experience with Banner; and experience in the specific special assignments area.
