We are interested in knowing what other institutions are doing to comply with Chapter 495(formerly HB1058), which was recently passed by the General Assembly. Is anyone storing student dependency information on their student info systems? If so, how are you obtaining the information and how are you storing it? Thank you in advance for your responses.

C. The board of visitors or other governing body of every public institution of higher education in Virginia shall establish policies and procedures requiring the release of the educational record of a dependent student, as defined by 20 U.S.C. § 1232g, to a parent at his request.
